Our favorite Insta influencers know the best stylists’ tricks to maximize their assets and look effortlessly gorgeous. The Barely Xtensions style crew is giving you a glimpse into this world by providing a few trade secrets this holiday season.
“’Tis the season for lots of holiday gatherings, and we want you to look and feel your best, whether you’re tackling the party circuit with your friends, getting ready for your office party, or meeting your bae’s entire extended family. This is the time to shine and sparkle, be bold and have fun,” said Nadine Mullings, Brand & Product Development Director at Barely Xtensions. “Our expert stylists have pulled together their best tips for all of your holiday events.”
Here are some celebrity style tips from the Barely Xtensions team:
All that Glitters Isn’t Gold. The holidays are the perfect time to sparkle! Use lotion with body glitter – or add hair glitter to your roots – to amp up the glow. Pick one or the other – sparkly skin or hair, but not both or you’ll risk sparkle overload. Also, use your clothes and accessories to add sparkle and shine. Metallic or sequined dresses, skirts, tops and heels are all festive at this time of year (just don’t wear them all together – you don’t want to look like a disco ball!). Tie your bangs back with the latest hair pins in twisted rose gold to add a pop of glitz to a French twist, elegant ponytail, or other style. And glittery jewelry (rings, earrings, bracelets or necklace) is always a good idea.
Fake it ‘til you Make it. Over-accentuate your best features. If you have gorgeous eyes, draw attention to them with dramatic cat-eye makeup, outlined with black liquid liner. Get lash extensions or fake lashes to make your peepers pop. Contour your face for shape. If your nails are a mess and you don’t have time for a pre-party mani, try stick on nails, which are so much more fun than ever before. Try faux eyeglasses for a smart and sexy vibe. And wear something that you feel fierce in – you’ll instantly feel hotter when rocking an amazing outfit.
Rock your Locks. Add glamorous hair extensions to change up your look. Wear your extensions sleek and straight down your back, using a flat iron to get this look. Or use the new Volcanic ceramic air-charged curling wand to get glamorous curls or brushed out beachy waves. Stylist tip: try a leave-in salt spray for a beachy, bohemian look. Use the extensions to lengthen your ponytail (try the 3-in-1 Hair Wrap) or create a long, luxurious braid.
Be Red Hot. Santa’s not the only one to rock red this holiday season. Shades of red are hot right now, so pick a sexy red dress or bold, wide-legged pants with a crisp white blouse and high heels. Wearing a bright red lip is another festive, in style touch. Red Hair– in all of its variations – is gorgeous during the holidays (and all year long), so consider adding a shine to dark hair with red highlights for a fiery glow, crimson or burgundy tipped hair edges, crackly copper or something in between, depending on your what looks good with your skin tone, or mix in hair extensions for color without the commitment.
Switch it Up. Going from party to party where you might see some of the same people but don’t have the budget to buy a new outfit. Here’s what you could do, first style the first look with a festive high volume ponytail; at party number two, switch the pony to a high bun. Swap out accessories, change your shoes (heels for boots, etc.) then add or take away one layer (add a jacket, pants vs. skirt, new top) that you were wearing for a completely different look.
Accessorize, Super-Sized. ‘Tis the season to go big, bold and sparkly. Rock huge fake lashes. Wrap yourself in a gorgeous faux fur coat (bonus points if it’s soft or tiger print!). Carry a cute, festive wrist purse. Wear ear crawlers, or a big statement neck choker or layers of pendants. But our stylists urge you not to forget the most important accessory of all: A bold, beautiful smile that will light up the room.
